In Spring 1936, Arab Palestinians start a three-year general revolt against the British Mandate. It is brutally crushed. The suppression of the Palestinian leadership—through imprisonment, or exile—provides Arab heads of states the opportunity to intervene, with British acquiescence, in Palestinian affairs that will last for decades. The British turn a blind eye to the militarization of the Zionists who, after the outbreak of World War II, begin to look for US support. The Zionists eventually focus on pushing the British out of Palestine and defeating the Palestinians.
